Privacy Policy

1. Scope of the App

Common Tails Publisher is a private internal tool used only by the Common Tails team to operate the official Common Tails YouTube channel. It is not offered to the public and does not enable third parties to connect or manage their accounts.

2. Google user data we access

After the Common Tails channel owner grants permission, the App may access:

• YouTube channel identity and basic channel information;
• videos, titles, descriptions, publishing status, and related metadata managed by the App;
• YouTube Analytics data such as views, watch time, audience retention, likes, comments, shares, and subscriber changes; and
• OAuth access and refresh tokens required to maintain the authorised connection.

The App does not request access to Gmail, Google Drive, contacts, payment information, or unrelated Google services.

3. How we use Google user data

We use Google user data only to upload and manage Common Tails videos, verify publishing results, retrieve performance metrics, diagnose publishing failures, and improve the channel’s content and release schedule.

Google user data is not used for advertising profiles, credit decisions, surveillance, or purposes unrelated to operating the Common Tails channel.

4. Storage and security

OAuth credentials and operational records are stored in access-controlled systems operated by Common Tails. Access is limited to authorised project operators. We use reasonable administrative and technical safeguards, including restricted file permissions, secret separation, and encrypted network connections.

5. Sharing and disclosure

We do not sell, rent, or share Google user data with advertisers, data brokers, or unrelated third parties. Data is processed only by service providers necessary to run the App, such as Google/YouTube and our secured hosting and storage providers, subject to their respective terms and security controls. We may disclose information only when legally required.

6. Retention and deletion

OAuth tokens are retained only while the App is authorised and needed to operate the Common Tails channel. Operational analytics records are retained only for legitimate channel management and historical comparison. Credentials are deleted or revoked when access is no longer required.

The channel owner may revoke access at any time through the Google Account connections page. A deletion request may also be sent to the contact address below.

7. Google API Services User Data Policy

Common Tails Publisher’s use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

8. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy when the App’s functionality or legal requirements change. The current version and its effective date will remain available on this page.
